Coach Oliver recently received recognized for an act of generosity that touched many people’s hearts. Kristen Paulk, a kindergartener on Oliver’s squad, approached him during a basketball game to ask for help pulling her hair back in a ponytail.

Coach Oliver crouched on a basketball to meet Kristen at her level and expertly adjusted her braids away from her face. This touching event was being captured, unbeknownst to him.

Despite the media attention, Coach Oliver maintains his modesty. He agrees that caring and warmth are widespread among teachers. His primary goal is to provide his students with a nurturing and comfortable environment in which they can feel at ease.
