The family had originally scheduled the trip for 2020, but the COVID-19 outbreak forced them to postpone it. Andie’s parents took the initiative to purchase $10,000 worth of Disney+ gift cards, planning to use them for tickets and dining reservations on the rescheduled vacation.
Let’s fast-forward to Christmas, when the family is scheduled to go on their Disney excursion. The sixteen participants were eager for the outing, and in an effort to save money, Andie’s parents had bought the ten thousand Disney gift cards ahead of time. When trying to load and utilize the cards properly for ticket and reservation purchases, there was a hitch, though.

Andie used TikTok to discuss their Disney+ disaster.
We eventually scheduled it for this Christmas, Andie said in an explanation posted on TikTok. My family, all sixteen of them, was going. My parents purchased 10,000 worth of Disney gift cards in order to save money on our tickets and restaurant reservations. When she revealed what transpired next, the plot became more complex. “They were having trouble buying the tickets and loading the gift cards correctly when I went home this weekend,” she remarked.
The problem stemmed from an unforeseen turn of events. The Disney+ subscription gift cards valued at $10,000 were unintentionally bought by the family in place of the intended theme park vouchers. Funny enough, a bewildered Andie said, “That’s a lot of Disney+ subscriptions.”
@aofthecoast Do I have a story for you! PLEASE HELP! Note that the purchaser is not familiar with Disney Plus and did not know the difference! Honest mistake. It is not about the funding of the trip. It is about finding someone who can help us transfer the money into the correct gift card so we can make it to Disney! @Disney Parks @Disney+ @Disney #ohno #fail #disney #disneyworld #disneyplus #disneyfail #help ♬ Oh No – Kreepa
The family tried to find a way to fix their mistake
Realizing the gravity of the situation, the family urgently sought assistance through a video, seeking a way to transform their Disney+ streaming gift cards into their intended Disney Parks gift cards. With their departure imminent and Christmas causing a surge in park ticket demand, anxiety ran high. Andie conveyed their predicament, stating, “We leave in 6 days and the parks are selling out of tickets because it’s Christmas. My mom is distraught, Dad frustrated, and the kids worried we won’t get into Disney.”
Complicating matters, the cards’ backs had already been scratched off, rendering them ineligible for return. Seeking a resolution, they reached out to Disney. Fortunately, the company, after being contacted, facilitated the transfer of the gift cards, allowing the family to utilize them in the parks as originally intended.

Relief at last for the frustrated family
Reflecting on the experience, Andie expressed relief, saying, “I am so glad we were able to get it resolved, especially for my parent’s sake. It was also good to hear that my parents are not the only ones who have experienced this.” She added, “I received many messages and comments from people telling me that they or someone they know have had similar experiences. I hope that this story makes more people aware of the card difference so no one else experiences this.”
