Every shelter dog wants to have a home of their own, but some canines experience repeated rejections and get discouraged about ever being adopted.
A 3-year-old shelter dog is devastated after not being adopted again, as evidenced by a devastating viral photo. However, there is still hope for this abandoned dog in spite of everything.
According to Newsweek, Rocky, a 3-year-old pit bull, was taken in by Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester, in October 2022 after his family was forced to leave their house and was unable to care for him.
Since then, Rocky has gone through a couple two-week adoption trial periods and been adopted out twice before being brought back to the shelter. Rocky has always found himself back where he began, even in spite of these moments of hope.
Since his most recent visit in September of last year, he has not had any luck. Rocky is a wonderful dog, but he would fare better in a specific kind of household that would be harder to locate, communications specialist Lindsay Brewer told Newsweek. She said that Rocky would be most happy living alone with adults in a home.
Rocky is beginning to take things seriously after almost a year of rejection and false starts, as shown by this agonizing photo the shelter shared a few weeks ago.
Rocky sits by himself in his kennel, his head hung down as though in shock about being ignored for yet another day.
