Anyone who has owned a dog understands that our bond with them is an authentic representation of friendship, devotion, and unwavering love.
Meet Greka the pitbull and her devoted owner, Delvia González, from Mexico, in this touching story that highlights the strong link that exists between people and their canine friends.
Greka was a devoted dog who enjoyed socializing with new people, much like other pitbulls.
However, she would always have a particular place in her heart for Delvia, González’s mother. Greka stayed at home with her mother, who is 70 years old, while González went to work every day. However, what began as sporadic dog sitting developed into a close relationship.

Greka and 70-year-old Delvia became the best of friends, playing and cuddling together all day long.
According to González, “they kept each other company and always spent time together. They would play fetch with the ball and then start watching TV together when they got tired.”
But Greka knew she had to be there for Delvia when she became ill with diabetes, a condition that may impair vision among other things.
Greka was there for my mother and always let me know when she felt unwell or had a change in her blood sugar. Whenever she was, she had a bed at her feet.

Delvia nearly lost her sight as her illness became worse. At that point, Greka truly proved to be invaluable, faithfully supporting her “grandmother” until the untimely death of Delvia a few weeks ago.
“Greka arrived at the emergency room first. González stated, “She was worried about her grandmother and in a desperate situation. “We went Greka to say goodbye on the day we buried her because we wanted her to realize that her grandmother would not be coming back. We got her really close to her casket. She shed a lot of tears. Though she was filled with sadness, she knew that her grandmother was at peace when she slept.
As is often the case, dogs grieve the loss of a loved one much like humans do, and Greka was no exception. They feel so deeply for the person and people who care for them. González noticed that Greka couldn’t take her eyes off the photo of her mom, which she had prominently displayed at home as a tribute.
According to her, the photo serves as a source of comfort for both of them during this difficult time.
“I feel my mother with me every time I hug Greka or every time she brings me her ball,” González said. “Her love for my mother has kept us together to endure this very difficult process.”
During a recent visit to the beach, González and Greka also received a sign that Delvia was still with them, watching over them from above. A white dove just soared into view right before their eyes as they stood gazing out over the sea.
Beautiful story yet sad as well Shows just what real feelings out beautiful animals have!
