The woman had had enough of her mother-in-law continually prying into her personal life. She endured it for a while before telling her husband one day what his mother was up to and how she intended to apprehend her.

A Reddit member used the platform to seek input from other users over whether or not her decision to exact revenge on her nosy mother-in-law was correct. Her spouse thought she had overreached herself.

The woman clarified that she had taken the sole action necessary to enable her spouse to witness her mother’s actions. But the man informed her she was wrong and that he didn’t think she needed to do it.

She then looked to online users to see if anyone else agreed that what she had done was excessive or if it was the only thing she could have done to get her mother-in-law change her conduct.

How Did the Mother-In-Law of the Woman Act?

The woman revealed that whenever she visited her and her husband’s home, her mother-in-law (MIL) would frequently ask to enter their bedroom. The woman once followed her mother-in-law when she did this.

The woman witnessed her mother-in-law enter her bedroom and rummage through the bills on her dresser without her MIL noticing her walking up the stairs behind her. The elder woman denied spying on her when the woman questioned her mother-in-law.

The woman realized it was finally time to exact revenge on her MIL for her constant spying.

The MIL said she had only entered the woman’s bedroom because she couldn’t find a bathroom elsewhere. However, these actions prompted the woman to install an exterior doorknob that required a key. She established the same type of doorknob in their office.

Even after doing this, the MIL kept claiming she forgot where the bathroom was and tried to enter the bedroom or office. The woman’s husband told her that since they had installed the locks, she had no reason to get upset.

However, everything came to a head when the MIL and the woman’s sister-in-law (SIL) came to dinner with them over the holidays. The woman knew it was finally time to get her revenge on her snooping MIL.

How Did the Woman Get Revenge?
The woman searched for her keys to lock her bedroom as she knew her MIL was coming over, but her husband told her she wouldn’t need to lock the doors and that his mother wouldn’t try to get into their bedroom.

The couple argued about it for a while and finally agreed to coat their doorknob in fine glitter so they could see if she had entered their bedroom. It was a tactic that had once worked for them when the man didn’t believe his mother was snooping.

However, this time, the woman took it a step further. She coated the doorknob in glitter and rigged a folder of glitter over the door that would drop down on her MIL when she entered the room.

The woman unlocked the door and waited for her MIL to fall into the trap. When his family arrived at their house, the man showed them which bathroom they could use and asked them not to go upstairs.

Yet it didn’t take long for the woman’s MIL to ignore her son’s request and go upstairs and into their bedroom, where she got covered in glitter from her hair to her hands. The woman shared:

“She completely lost it and started screaming at me, so I yelled back, and now my husband is saying I went too far.”

The woman’s MIL also told her she was terrible for what she had done, but her SIL reassured the Reddit user that she had done nothing wrong and that her mother deserved what her mother got because she was snooping.

The woman’s MIL told her that the stunt had ruined her car, too, because it was now covered in glitter, and she could not get it all cleaned off. The woman asked if she had gone too far or was justified in what she did to her MIL.
