Actor Morgan Freeman,86, has finally spoken forward to explain why he always wears gold earrings, ending years of rumors. And it’s not what you might think.
It’s safe to say that everyone’s favorite actor is Morgan Freeman. In addition to his exceptional acting abilities, he’s recognized for his distinctive deep voice and freckles on his face.
He has starred in many iconic movies over the course of 50 years, including The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Invictus (2014), and Street Smart (1986), all of which earned him Oscar nominations. But in 2005, he was given the distinguished honor for his performance in Million Dollar Baby.
Freeman had a difficult time becoming famous. In actuality, Street Smart was the reason he got his big break in Hollywood. But as of right now, he has a long list of noteworthy acting achievements.
Freeman is also well-known for his golden hoops earrings, which he never takes off.
The actor claims that Burt Lancaster, who wore a pair in a pirate film, most likely 1952’s The Crimson Pirate, served as inspiration for the earrings. That struck me as being hot. Then I discovered that sailors who died abroad would wear gold earrings to cover the cost of their funerals. That was spot on, given that I’m a sailor,” Freeman said to Fox News in 2016.
He also disclosed that he chose to discuss the significance of the earrings and their backstory because he had been asked about them frequently over the years.
“I am asked about them all the time. The truth is that my belongings are only worth enough for someone to buy me a casket in the unlikely event that I pass away in an unidentified location. That’s the reason why sailors and I both wear them,” he wrote on Instagram.
Celebrity Net Worth estimates that Freeman is worth $250 million.
Freeman was seen with a black glove on his left hand at the 2023 Oscars. Freeman’s admirers understood the actor was wearing the glove because of the serious accident he was engaged in years before, even though many who were unaware of the true reason thought it was merely a matter of personal style.
Specifically, late one night in 2008, Freeman was driving home when his automobile went off the road, flipped multiple times, and finally came to a stop in a ditch, injuring his arm.
He was conscious when paramedics arrived shortly after, but he needed to be taken to a Memphis hospital that was more than 100 miles from the crash scene.
