Shoes with Built-In Sensors Help Visually Impaired People Navigate

Have you ever cut your toe nails? It’s the kind of unpleasant encounter that everyone wants to avoid. However, consider how much more difficult it would be if you were unable to see your destination. For those who are blind or visually handicapped, getting around can be very difficult.

However, a remedy is now available, courtesy to Tec-Innovation, an Australian company. They have developed a pair of shoes called InnoMake that helps visually impaired people avoid obstacles by using cutting-edge sensor technology. Similar to the sensors on an automobile that warn you when you’re going to collide with anything, these shoes have sensors built into them that vibrate or make noise if an obstruction is detected.

The sensors are positioned in unique slots on the InnoMake shoes. The rechargeable battery only takes three hours to fully charge and has a maximum life of one week. The best part is that using these shoes doesn’t even require a smartphone. If you do own a smartphone, though, you can change the settings, like the minimum distance for detection and alert preferences, using the free software that comes with it.

The InnoMake shoes have additional advantages in addition to obstacle detection. You don’t have to be concerned about them becoming wet because they are water-resistant. Additionally, they include intelligent modes that can help visually impaired people even more.

For those who are blind or visually challenged, the InnoMake shoes are revolutionary since they increase their independence and self-assurance while navigating the environment. Regardless of a person’s ability, we may all live a little bit easier thanks to technology.
