While visiting Jeffries Creek Park in Florence, South Carolina, Meredith Langley came across a massive snake sitting on the edge of the creek.
Langley posted pictures of the amazing lizard to Facebook along with a comment about how well it fit in with its surroundings.
Langley claimed that her children, who had a tendency to outpace her on walks, learned valuable lessons from the post as well.
A tweet featuring a reptile that appeared to be possibly deadly sparked a number of comments online and more than 1,000 social media shares.
A user voiced uncertainty about exploring the surrounding trails, while another conjectured that the beast had already taken a human hostage. A number of users just conveyed their shock upon witnessing this “beast.”
Sean Foley, the herpetology curator at Riverbanks Zoo & Garden in Columbia, disclosed that the reptile in question was, in fact, a harmless brown watersnake.
When threatened or cornered, watersnakes are known to convince would-be predators that they are dangerous cottonmouths by shaking their tails and flattening their heads among the foliage. They seem more formidable as a result, and hopefully they are not attacked.
A massive anaconda measuring 33 feet in length and 63 stone was found on a building site in Brazil, shocking the construction workers. The serpent was discovered at the Altamira Cave in Para after a controlled explosion.
One crew member’s footage reveals the anaconda’s scary size, which had reached one meter in circumference. It was a sight that startled people because such massive beasts are seldom discovered daily. The sighting was unusual, as most snakes in this part of the world rarely get to such size.
The personnel of the horrific discovery had no choice but to tether Medusa, a 25-foot-2-inch-long snake, from Kansas City to a crane.
When the animal was lifted, its yellow-speckled belly was revealed in all its splendor, eliciting viewers’ mixed reactions when the film was uploaded to YouTube. According to Guinness World Records, Medusa is currently the world’s longest snake in captivity.
