The Fascinating Evidence of Evolution in Our Bodies

A fascinating idea that reminds us of our relationship to all animals, including ourselves is evolution. The idea that some of the best proof of evolution could be right within our own bodies is amazing.

Physical and Internal Traits Passed Down Through Generations

Many of our physical and psychological characteristics have been passed on from our forebears. Although some of these characteristics may not be useful in our contemporary life, they were formerly absolutely vital for survival. It’s amazing to think that we still possess these almost worthless traits right now.

Our physiological reaction to cold temperature is one instance of such a feature. On a frigid winter day, have you ever seen a pigeon blowing its feathers? This natural activity clearly shows that evolution is still in action since it keeps them warm.

Animal Protection Mechanisms

The way animals respond when they feel threatened is still another fascinating illustration. One instance of a defense mechanism would be a cat’s hair bulging up in response to startledness. Animals raise their chances of survival by seeming to be bigger and more frightening. Generations have passed on this quality as a means of self-defense.

Unbelievable Data in Our Hands

Our own arms, more especially our tendons, contain the most amazing proof of evolution. Over 10–15% of the human population possesses a tendon called the palmaris longus that has progressively vanished. Our forebears, including lemurs and monkeys, previously swung from branch to branch in trees using this tendon. This tendon phased out over time when humans and other ground-dwelling apes ceased need it.

You might still retain the palmaris longus tendon if you connect your pinky to your thumb and see a tendon popping up. The ability of our bodies to offer proof of our evolutionary past is just amazing.

Valuing the Wonders of Evolution

The next time you check in the mirror or notice the surroundings, stop to consider the miracles of evolution. We have been fashioned into the amazing people we are now by an ongoing process. Our bodies provide a plethora of evidence linking us to our forebears and the path of existence. Accept the wonders of evolution and the complex web linking all living entities.
