Our favourite four ladies are back, but in a new way!
Since this year has been challenging, to put it mildly, we really need to see our favorite old films again right now.
When it comes to television classics, one of the most recognizable programs to this day is the sitcom Golden Girls from the 1980s. So much so that it makes perfect sense to consider a remake.
Hollywood’s A-listers appear to have shared the same thought.
Happy news! The humorous sitcom has been redesigned and now features an all-Black, diverse ensemble! The production, which is a collaboration between Mobilize and Zoom, features Tracee Ellis Ross, Regina King, Alfre Woodard, and Sanaa Lathan. It is part of a series called The Zoom Where It Happens.
All you have to do to enjoy this evening is register to get messages about how you can influence this election, as part of our efforts to further engage our community and promote change! The listing for the event says.
The inaugural edition of this event, which is being held in collaboration with Zoom, will highlight and assist Color of Change, the biggest online racial justice organization in the country.
Ellis Ross appears to be indicating which actress will be playing which in an Instagram picture.
The original cast, which included Betty White, Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty, and Rue McClanahan, is seen in the animation. But suddenly they transform into the new cast, with King portraying Dorothy Zbornak, Lathan as Blanche Devereaux, Ellis Ross as Rose Nyland, and Woodard as Sophia Petrillo.
And as if that weren’t thrilling enough, this episode of the much enhanced The Golden Girls is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball and The Old Guard), and Lena Waithe (Master of None) is hosting the event.
