It was always fun to giggle when watching “The Carol Burnett Show”! The studio crowd may be heard laughing during this sketch in the video. The hilarious improvised story by Tim Conway makes even the cast giggle.

When Conway improvises a tale about a circus elephant, his co-stars find it impossible to hold it together. Along with Dick Van Dyke and Vicki Lawrence, Carol Burnett buryes her head in her hands.
The family was trying to play the game “Password,” and Conway was portraying Mickey Hart. Mickey, a character created by Conway, was just driven to share the tale of an elephant he had heard about in the circus.

Conway riffs on the narrative in the first segment of the video, explaining how the elephant and the trainer fell in love. He goes on to claim that once they passed away, they were even buried together. The players are attempting to gather themselves; they are trembling and covering their faces.
Conway riffs again in the second section, but this time it’s about Siamese twin elephants that are joined together at the trunks, and it’s even better. Conway bursts into laughter at his own narrative.

Carol finds it difficult to utter the next sentence, but she does so to Vicki Lawrence’s character, “Mama.” It’s her turn to play the game, she tells her as she turns to face her. Vicki responds right away with an outrageous R-rated joke. The crowd erupts in applause as soon as Tim Conway and Dick Van Dyke tumble to the ground from the couch!
Carol Burnett recalled in a subsequent interview that during the dress rehearsal, none of the actors had heard the words. Their astonishment sparked a hilarious moment in which Conway’s improvisation had the entire ensemble crying!
