A devastated woman was mourning her child in a coffin when the son she thought was dead called her during his burial via video call.
As the entire family stood around the casket, the 14-year-old contacted his mother to let her know he was alive and well.
A few days earlier, on October 15, a bloody body of a teenager was discovered by a bystander in the family’s Honduran hamlet. According to Telemundo, the face was completely damaged as a result of many gunshot wounds to the head and neck.
Osman Adonay Urbina’s body was identified after family members noticed a burn scar on one of his arms. The body was released by the police so that the family may bury it as is customary.
During the vigil, while relatives said their goodbyes to the youngster who was about to embark on his final journey, the mother received a video call from him. “I was taken aback when friends said, ‘Here is Osman.'” Vilma Fuentes, the boy’s mother, told Honduran media, “I thought it was a joke.”
Osman, who had left home three weeks before with the intention of reaching the United States, called his mother from the Guatemala-Mexico border, saying, “I’m here at the border. “I’m not dead; I’m alive.”
After that, the family called the cops to explain the strange incident. Officers arrived at the family’s home and, after further investigation, concluded that the body belonged to Jimmy Sarmiento, 15, who had gone missing.
Sarmiento’s relatives were also summoned to Osman’s family home, where they confirmed Jimmy’s body and transported it away with the coffin.
Vilma Fuentes stated that the two boys seemed remarkably similar, but the police “confused her,” causing her to spend days mourning her son, who is still alive.
